Jens Thorhauge, Thorhauge Consulting – Libraries in the digital age – models and activities

Libraries are transforming into new kinds of institutions in the digital age. Reading habits change and so do the ways we learn, research, communicate – and in general work and live. Typical trends in the new library models are focusing on the library as space for study, working, meeting closer cooperation with all type of relevant partners, user-driven activities and interactive and other new forms of learning. According to this, libraries should present new offers and frames for citizens in (nearly) always open libraries and new offers for students and researchers.

Part of the strategy behind these changes and new cultural habits and patterns of conduct among users is to meet some of the needs that cannot be met in cyberspace – and in cyberspace to give offers that meet various user needs.
